In the face of rising costs and reduced funding, the asphalt industry is working to provide innovative, cost-effective solutions to build longer-lasting and safer roads. This all starts with a good bond, without a solid bond between the tack and emulsion the performance of the asphalt significantly decreases.
Our simple and proven technology is made up of 7 key components. The first three are the pump, tank and spray groups that give you precision control over the application process. The second is the hydraulic, pneumatic, heating and control systems that regulate the machine and attachment. These work to keep the paving process running smooth, no matter the job site or machine. We have configurations to fit most pavers and two tank sizes to meet your needs.
In conventional paving debonding can happen if there is non-uniform applications of tack or a lack of adjustments in the application rate to match the application surface. The most common mistake made is too low of a shot rate for the surface. Of course environmental factors are a constant, dirt, debris and dust contamination are unavoidable in the great outdoors. Combined with current practices that requires crews to drive over tack coats to place emulsion mix.
Spray paving. The revolutionary process that eliminates loss of tack and improves the integrity of the asphalt laid. In an interview for AsphaltPro, Phil Foley helped to educate readers on the topic:
“Spray pavers combine the processes of the paver and distributor truck into one machine, spraying emulsion immediately ahead of laying and smoothing hot mix. Spray paving allows crews to perform the underseal and overlay in one action, eliminates the possibility of the public getting tack on their vehicles and offers a strong bond. The combined process allows [us] to start paving 1.5 to 2 hours earlier...and eliminates driving over the tack. …Instead of trucks tracking emulsion onto the roadway and into communities, spray paving has allowed us to keep a cleaner jobsite and keep that roadway going out clean.” Read More
